Students not currently enrolled in art classes at their school may also create artwork at home, but entries must follow all contest criteria and be submitted by the art teacher or another appropriate staff person at the school. All work must be turned in to respective area coordinators by Nov. 18, 2011.Entries in the Derby Festival Student Art Contest will be judged by three arts professionals from the community. The winners of the contest in six divisions will be presented medallions, certificates and a Derby Festival Student Art Contest Winner's Pin; first-place winners will receive a 2012 Derby Festival framed poster. The winners will also have their artwork displayed at the Derby Festival Poster Premiere and Student Art Awards Ceremony on January 25, 2012. All winners will receive complimentary tickets to the Poster Premiere for themselves and two guests. Teachers of award-winning students will also be invited to the ceremony and will receive special recognition.
The Festival has offered this opportunity for area students to showcase their creative skills since 1977.
