One of the Kentucky Derby Festival's oldest and most anticipated events is The Fillies Derby Ball, to be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Galt House East Grand Ballroom. This event caps the opening day of the Derby Festival and is a prelude to two weeks of exciting activities.The highlight of the Derby Ball is the coronation of the Derby Festival Queen, to be selected by the traditional spin-of-the wheel. Patsy Allen, 2012 Fillies President, will do the honors. In her first royal act, the Queen will "knight" individuals to the Court of the Pegasus for their contributions to the community.
Following the pomp and ceremony at the Fillies Derby Ball, hosted by George Lindsey and Lynda Lambert of 102.3 The Max, guests including the Mayor and a who's who of local businesses will enjoy live music and dancing.
"This is such a wonderful event. It combines the excitement of the coronation with a fun evening of dinner and dancing for everyone in attendance," said 2011 Fillies President Jenny Jacob. "Could there be a more regal way to open the Derby Festival?"
