Spelling Bee Child Participation
How to ParticipateThe Kentucky Derby Festival Spelling Bee has been held since 1994. To be eligible to participate, your student must first be in 4th thru 8th grades. Also, your student must participate in and win both their School and County Spelling Bee's. (See below for a list of counties currently participating.)

In order for a county to send a winner they must have a County Coordinator. This individual is responsible for planning the county bee and adhering the all County Coordinator Responsibilities. All schools in these counties (Public, Private, Parochial, Charter and Home) are eligible to participate and are required to be included by the county coordinator. If your school is located within one of the counties below and not currently included, please contact the county coordinator to make arrangements to do so. If you are interested in coordinating your county?s bee, please contact the Spelling Bee Event Manager, Evan Sharp, at esharp@kdf.org.
REMINDER:
To be eligible to participate in the 2012 Festival Spelling Bee, county contacts must register by November 2011.
If you have any questions regarding the event, please feel free to contact Evan Sharp at (502) 584-3378 ext. 839, or esharp@kdf.org.
