A note from
Kentucky Derby Festival®
2021 marks the 66th edition of the Kentucky Derby Festival. An annual rite of spring, the Festival is known for bringing the community together in celebration each year. We hope to continue to fulfill that mission, at a time when it’s needed more than ever.
Beyond the events, the Festival has become part of the fabric of our community. The Festival itself was started by Louisvillians back in 1956 to create a way for everyone to celebrate in the days leading up to the Kentucky Derby horse race.
While this year’s Festival, and its events and programs will look very different than what we’ve become accustomed, it will still be built upon our favorite Kentucky traditions. Ones we’ve all missed over this past year.
With public health and safety our top priority, we've worked with our sponsors and partners to reimagine our events for 2021. You will still see and feel the magic of the Derby Festival, including fireworks, hot air balloons, bed racing,
steamboats, golf events, road races, cycling, and, yes, even Pegasus Pins.
As we head into this upcoming season, we are so thankful and grateful for the patience and continued support from our many sponsors, partners, and you, our Festival Family, during these extraordinary times. The Festival would not be the same without you!
The Kentucky Derby Festival represents a time of community, excitement and celebration. We hope you’ll join us in sharing that same spirit this year.
